Do yourself a favor by ditching Gmail for an alternative.

What do you recommend? Dunno how long they've been doing it, but Gmail requires a cell # in order to open an account now. No idea why, but there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

The alternative I recommend is Fastmail: email on your side I've been using it for years. It's a pay site but trust me you get what you pay for. They even have a Gmail transfer tool.
