Starlink

I'm considering Starlink at my place. There is really no reliable wired or fiber internet available for my location. I currently get it over the air with a line-of-site receiver on the side of my house. I usually get between 40-50 MBPS but it drops out often enough that it's annoying. My biggest concern is with it being installed on the roof. I really don't want any holes through my shingles, but it sounds like that's the only option. Do any of you have any input on that?
My neighbor just lays hers on the lawn. moves it when cutting grass and puts it back when shes done or when the wind blows from the east.

I had the first oddity with Starlink this morning. Our power went out for about an hour and a half. When it came back on I had to reconfigure Starlink's wifi. I set it up with the same network name and password and everything connected as before. I have never had to do that before.

I hope I never have to do that. I have my star link router and TV on a UPS from APC 1100

That's weird. Ours has been subject to more than a few glitches and I have never had to do that. I hope it is just a one time thing for you.

All the best, Peter

Excellent note. In December my Gen2 Dishy permanently failed to reboot after a software update. It was replaced with a Gen3. It's a technical AND power improvement over the Gen2 but uses no more 120vac power in service. Power from a UPS would cover most outages that grid reliant folks would experience.
