I would like to post the pic's of the rack I built for my RTV but I am have a heck of a time trying to resize them. Moderater's could we please have an auto sizer installed.

Looks like you got a good amount of wood on there... I made my own box and leave the tailgate open so I can get a 3rd rank on. Probably not as much as you're carrying but it's working for me so far. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No close up needed. All you have to do is take 1'x1'X1/8" hollow square tube the height that you want the rack and weld a piece a of 2 1/2"x 1/8" flat bar to that , on the front corners weld two pieces on to make the corners. Put the weld on the inside so it looks good & smooth on the outside. I used white ash lumber, 1/4" carriage bolts and self locking nuts. Keep the bolts about 1" from the end of your wood slates. I use a mixture of 50/50 % turpintine& linseed oil on the wood and be sure to paint the metal.

It certainly is a nice clean job -- very professional. But are you in danger of putting too much weight on the machine? It looks like a healthy ton of wood piled up there.

I will never over load it. That is dry wood might have 6-8 hundred pounds on in that pic. I made them that high so I could haul lighter, bulkyer material like leaves or wood chips. baled hay etc. My dealer told me that he had one guy that was bring out a cord to the load, probably about a ton. Payload is 1600 lbs.

I'm assuming that's a "face cord" (1 rank, 4x8'). No way to fit a full cord (128 cu/ft) in the box as you would need to stack it over 8' high. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
The wood I've been hauling is nice wet oak or maple. I think I'd probably either tip over of flip over backwards if I filled it up using your racks. I put about 1200# in mine with no racks which is a full enough load for me. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am sure he was referring to a face cord, but that is still a lot of weight. We all got common sense and I sure am gonna keep using mine.

Last year I bought a full cord of wood with a friend of mine. We brought up to deer camp and hauled it in with my RTV, a bunch of straps and a small trailer that I pulled behind my RTV. We made three trips to get it all in. That was the most weight I ever carried and pulled with my RTV. Everyones jaw just dropped when they saw that. I could not believe it myself. I was on mainly level ground so that helped. If I had stake sides I would have hauled even more. The RTV's are an amazing machine.
