I have a JD 1025R and I maintain a very hilly 20 acres. It can get scary at times on the hills as it seems top heavy. I was checking out the Bora wheel spacers and wondering if that would help me.

Anyone used these spacers? Do they work as advertised? Do they cause undue wear on the axles or tranny? Would you recommend just rear spacers or both front & rear? I sure don't want to cause any premature wear or maintenance on my 1025R.

Thanks,
Roger

Never heard of premature wear using spacers in over 12 years and I keep my ears open. I have a JD 3720 with 4" on each rear side and with hills it nicer. Fluid in the rears is a must and wheel weights help a lot. Caution is always a must on hillsides even with spacers and weights. If you have a mid mount mower, spacers may not work because of mower protusions.

Check your Owners Manual. They should tell if spacers are OK. My OM does not speak about spacers. It's because my rims are agriculture rims and have adjustments for wider/narrower. I have my rear rims set out at their widest setting. My front rims are set at the neutral setting. I have 775 pounds of Rim Guard in each rear wheel. The spacing & rim guard help a lot.

Side hilling can be very dangerous. Front or rear tire falls into a shallow hole and you could be up side down in a flash.

My OM does say - no double wheels.

I put 600 hours on an L3400 with 6" rear spacers from Bora. The rears were loaded with Rimguard as well. I mowed predominantly sidehills. No issues with the axles.

Front spacers are of limited usefulness due to the pivot on the front axle.

When I bought my current tractor I had it set up with slightly smaller wheels and tires from a similar model (to lower the CG), wheel spacers and Rimguard. It is very stable on side hills compared to the last tractor which was smaller and narrower. Since I did not try it in stock configuration I don't know how much each of those helped.

I put BROTEC wheel spacer on back of my MF GC1715 and the extra 6 inches of width made all the difference in the world for stability.... If there is ever a wear problem with axle bearings I will deal with it when it happens.....

This ought to convince you about spacers...

Added 2” rear wheel spacers and liquid ballast to our Kubota B26 to help stabilize 3pt mowing on our hilly property. Made a big difference. Helps also with loader work.

I put 2" spacers on my BX2370. Before when I mowed my side hills with the belly mower I had to do it on a diagonal and a few times I felt a wheel lift. Now I can go straight across and it doesn't feel tippy at all. I have also bought some dumbbell weights to use as wheal weights, used weights are around $1 / pound. My BX needs 10# plates to fit in the rims. All I need to do is buy a drill press to do the job $$$.

Thanks for the help with this. Yes, my JD has a mower deck so I'll just get with Bora and see how thick they recommend.

Because of my 60" deck width and how wide my tires are 2" is as wide as I could go. I have about 1" clearance, I don't think I would want to go any wider.
