So what do you put in Sta-Bil to keep it from gelling up during the winter?

I'm not sure of Your question . But, I use Stabil In my gas engines to keep the fuel from going sour . I use FPPF, or Stanadyne for the diesel fuel. John

I use Stabil in all my "utility" gas cans. I used to just put it in before winter, but still had some un-stabil gas in some small engines and got gummed up. I now put stabil in ALL my gas cans for use in my tractor and all small engines. No gumup problems since.
There might be something better, but Stabil works fine for me.

the stuff is sort of messy/stinky and tends to blow out the top of the little dispenser thingy in hot weather though.

Yes and when it blows out the top it leaves a red mess all over. For some reason I get some sort of crystal growing in the bottom of my stabil jugs. I hope they dissolve in the gas.

I use it in every can of gasoline I buy year round.

The sta-bil seems to be pretty much straight alcohol so it shouldn't freeze or gum.

Yeah, OK. I've been told to use the little smiley when I make what I think is an amusing observation. This was sort of along the lines of "What do you add to dehydrated water?" I suppose the only logical answer would be to put Sta-Bil in it.
