I did the same thing with a Harbor Freight hitch, use it for all types of stuff.

It works great for working on the bottom of your rotary cutter too....stand it right up nearly vertical.

It also works great with a 6' box blade on the front:

I just looked at that link. $300 and no quick hitch capability so hooking up the 3 pt implement is still a nuisance. At the time I paid about $80 for the cheapest ssqa plate I could find and about the same for the HF quick hitch. The welding part is dead simple.

I picked up a couple of HF quick hitches while in FLA for the month of April. I am going to weld one to my SSQH plate that I use for a trailer mover. I zoomed in on your pictures and it looks like you made "tabs" to weld the QH to your plate. Is there any reason you didn't just weld the QH directly to the plate? I am a hacker / wannabe welder so it's not dead simple for me. I have friends who do my important welding for me but I try to do more projects for myself where I think I can.

I want to cut out the center of the plate similar to yours, to clear the driveshaft on my rotary cutter when I move it. I think I'll pick up a 3pt receiver hitch to put on the QH when I want to move a trailer. Then I won't need the extra plate.

This is a pic of the QH set on top[of the trailer moving plate. Thanks for any advice.

You might want to consider welding in some extra rollback.

I don't have a quick hitch, but my three point adapter has extra rollback built in:

If you look at the top of the QH/HF thing I made, you will see a series of 4 what I call "hook" gussets. That is a Xfaxman suggestion for high strength. I wouid recommend that.
The tabs you see are there just to make it easier to weld the two plates together. So you need a couple tabs. Mine are short. As Xfaxman says, that is a good place to use longer tabs, adding 1 -3 inches of space at the bottom for extra rollback. All depends what you need, what you are doing. I did not add roll back and it has not been a problem, but it is definitely something to consider.

Great ideas. Thanks for the input.

If I was doing mine over I would add some roll back spacing to the bottom.
Been a couple of times I would have liked a bit more curl back on it.

What attachments did you find that you wanted more roll back with?
