Ssatoh S373D

I: am new to the forum and I made a big mistake. I was looking for a starter and an alternator for my S373D and I thought the 370 was the same. I bought an alternator and a starter using the parts described on the forum. guess what, they did not fit.
I am hoping that someone knows the right parts to obtain. I got the starter from auto zone and it can be returned, the alternator from eBay, doubt it can be returned.

I take mine to the local rebuild shop. Do you still have the old ones? The 373 uses the same as the 470 Buck. And the grey 1450/1550.

Thanks oliver I will look into those no's any idea on the alternator? Bought the Beaver new in i982 it's been a real work horse. People are amazed at what it can do. It has been rolled 3 times by friend who borrowed it. I am just now starting to restore it obtained a replacement hood and I have rebuilt all four wheels, a lot of rust but thay are in good shape now need a few other parts but this web site is great. thank's again Ron

You might try NAPA, I was surprised on parts they had for my 373.

Ron - don't feel bad I made the same mistake with mine. As Oliver stated, take the originals to a rebuild shop or you can change the bearings/brushes/diodes or whatever is wrong yourself pretty cheap if you like to mess with that stuff. You can adapt a KE70 (S370) alternator to a K3A engine (S373) but it is not easy - you'll need new bolts and some washers to shim the mounting correctly. I have a Bolens (Iseki) with a K3B and it seems like its alternator has different mounting than the K3A in my S373. I thought the parts for these tractors were ridiculously confusing but now I'm trying to find a rebuild kit for a carb for a Briggs & Stratton engine for my zero turn mower that has an apparently rare "Nikki" carb. Someday I'd like to write a book on why I don't like carburetors. Oh, did I mention why I love diesels????
