I was wondering what older reasonably priced balers were available for some of the smaller tractors today. I know about the jd 14t, the MF 124, and IH 57 but was wondering what other units are out there. I was hoping to use this thread to make a list for future searches.

Also are there any self powered units out there that are fair in price. I recall reading about a NH 500 once, any others?

Thanks in advance.

See my post in this currently running TBN thread for some input regarding your first question

Regarding your second question. My neighbor bales his alfalfa with this old self propelled NH 500 3-twine baler

IRRC, he paid about $2500 for this setup. I don't think that One Wheeler gizmo is still being manufactured. Too bad. That baler is really neat and it moves like a ball bearing pussycat.

I saw a new Freeman self propelled baler at the World Ag Show in Tulare last month. I didn't bother to ask the price for fear of cardiac arrest.

G'day dont know what it is like over there but we repair farm machinery for a living over here and have found anything but the NH are getting very hard to get parts for and what bits that are avail are getting very pricey (read sit down if they can give you a price!!!!) there are a few bits avail for the NH aftermarket i.e knotters and kneedles and the best bit is they run the same parts through alot of models I would personally steer clear of the IH and the MF not sure what parts are like for the JD not a very popular machine over here NH did make a few models of self propelled good luck and happy baling P.S. Claas are another one that still seem to be able to supply parts for their earlier machines but being claas the parts are not overly cheap but at least they are avail:)
