Spring Trout Runs

As I now find myself living on a worldclass trout stream, I'm dusting off the fly rod and wondering ....

wondering just when I should start putting some flys on the water?

We're talking Sheepscot river in Maine ... brownies, brookies, stripers and the occasional atlantic salmon ...

Anyone know when the activity will pick up?

Is your season open already? Our rivers are still frozen over and speckled trout season doesn't open until April 15th. Atlantic Salmon are off-limits until September and then only with a special permit and on flies only. I do plan to be there for the trout season opening though!
