Hi Forum,
For everyone that is having trouble with the pull it push problem attaching a PTO shaft. I made a C-type clip that i hook on after i compress the coupler. It hooks to the ring and inside the universal. Then slide on the shaft and as it enters the locking groove on the tractor the clip pops right off and presto its on. Its just made out of some heavey straping (flat stock) metal. Squeeze the ring and measure it at its compressed state and bend it up in a vise. It hasent failed yet and i swap my midmount mower deck weekley. The first time i put the deck on...i said, we gotta do some thing about this fight. It took longer to connect the shaft than it does to install the whole deck. I got it down to under 10 minutes with no frustration at all now.
Happy tractoring, Larry

Larry,

That sounds like a very simple and effective solution. Fortunately, the ring on my Kubota 72" belly mower stays retracted by itself and then snaps forward when the coupler slides onto the pto shaft. However, the ring on my Woods brush hog does not stay back by itelf. Your clamp sound like it should work for rear pto implements, too.
