When running Mozilla Firefox this site has become unusable because of spoofing. Pretty much every link I click gets rerouted to some sort of malicious site or search engine.

IE appears to work fine which makes me wonder about Firefox. Odd thing is that no others sites do this and the problem just started today.

Ideas? Virus scan picks up nothing.

That's strange, I use Firefox also and don't get any of that.

I'm on a MAC. Safari OK. Also have firefox on mac and PC, works on both of them. IE on PC works too.

No ideas what to check next, but Firefox does have some debug apps you can download, I use one to see what's going on with the HTTP protocols for debugging some web server stuff I work with. That might be able to catch a redirect, but have not tried to debug that specific type of problem.

Virus scan won't usually pick it up. You've probably got a redirector on there. Things like Webroot Spy Sweeper will usually get rid of them.

I am running FF here with no problems.

Get HijackThis (available here and here, it is made to find nasties that hijack your browser and redirect it to places you dont want it to go.

Also, I would recommend downloading and running McAfee Stinger and SuperAntiSpyware.

That group of programs should catch and clean most nasties out there.

I agree with the others... sounds like spyware. There are many tools out there that can help correct the problem.

Yeah, spyware it was. I figured, but thought I'd ask. After running Spybot S&D TWICE, it remedied the problem but this thing is SLOW. Looks like it's time to find the Windows disk and do an FDISK. Yup, like I got time for that!

Thanks all for the replies,

Haymaker, if Firefox is running slow, try this... Close FF (wait for it to completely close), then go to "Programs" , scroll to the folder with "Mozilla" and start "Firefox in Safemode". It will open another menu and check the box for "Add ons" the first box if I recall correctly, to clear them. Then at the bottom of the menu box, Click on "this session only" (I think it was the second choice, not exactly sure how it was worded - I'm at the inlaws and they don't have FF). Let it load completely, surf for a while and exit.

The next time just start FF normally and see if it's faster... worked for me but it could have been another problem. Also, a warning... I click on all the boxes and used the first choice at the bottom to permently save it (not the "this session only") and lost my bookmarks!!! So back up your bookmarks just in case!!!
