SPLITTER WONT SPLIT

i installed a new cylinder on my log splitter but it doesn't work. i bleed the air out but the cylinder wont move i cracked the oposite port and air came out. i bleed it again same problem engine stalls. the log crane works great but the splitter ram doesn't. then i checked the oil and it was full of froth help ????

Remove both hoses from cyl and put in a clean bucket. Push the lever momentary and pull the lever momentary. Did you have flow? Reconnect the hoses and cycle the levers, the air will self bleed as you activate the levers. Leave the hoses loose on the cyl's if you want to accelerate the bleeding. When you see fluid coming out of the cyl hose ends, the cyl should work.

Is the cyl the only thing you changed?

If the engine tried to stall, that means that the fluid is being blocked. Switch the hoses from the log crane and see what happens.

When the cylinder was replaced.....what happened to the oil that was in it ????
Did you fill the new cylinder with oil first.........did you keep the reservoir full during priming....
Sounds like cavitation in the pump causing the foam....

Without knowing what you did...pretty difficult to troubleshoot the situation

Does the relief for the log splitter valve relieve at any time?

Can you show pic of your set up?

well i trouble shooted today and it turns out i had my hoses crossed at the valve swapped the pump and return and it works !!!!

How did the valve hoses get switched around?

You led us astray by saying the only thing you changed was the cyl.
