For those of us who've used computers for years, SpinRite has always been the tool of choice for hard drive maintenance and emergency data recovery. It's been out for 16 years or so, and has never had an equal.

Unfortunately, it was never able to run on NTFS or Linux drives.. until now. It's now able to run on just about anything; new and unformatted drives, FAT, NTFS, EXT3, even Apple or TiVo drives when they are placed into an Intel/AMD-compatible box for testing. It would probably run on an old piece of shoe leather, if you have any data stored in such a manner. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This is such a great tool that I can't help but share my excitement about it with other computer users.

Anyone who knows Steve Gibson knows you always get more than you pay for when you deal with him.

While at his site, check out all of his *free* services.. like the wonderful SheildsUP! security testing, and all of the little *free* Windows security applications.

The SpinRite docs will take a while before they catch up.. they were left until last because Steve wanted to get the new SpinRite into the hands of people who need it NOW and who are willing to wait for the docs.

Anyway, the new SpinRite is in town! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
