Speedometer for XUV 850D

I sent this question to John Deere support:

"I cannot find anywhere on your Gator sites an option to add a speedometer/gauge kit to the new XUV 850D. Has JD omitted this option from the new range? A speedometer is critical to some tasks such as spraying/fertiliser spreading etc. Is there a JD part number for this kit if it does exist?
Can the kit BM21546 from the older range be modified to fit?
Will the sender unit attach to the transmission of the new 850D?"

...they said they will get back to me after they have talked to those that know.

Speedometer would be a nice option. I use my gps.

Many farmers around here also use gps's for crop spraying seeding and fertilization.

I use a Garmin quest. They have less expensive units with larger displays.
I chose this one because it is water resistant and it fits in my pocket if I decide to walk a long distance. (which probably isn't going to happen)

my buddy uses his megelan exsplorist to get around the shrimping holes and find his way around . we took it riding and it's pretty cool. it comes with free download upgrades off the internet too. he paid 99.00 for it and it.s water proof and shock proof . nice rubber coating to protect it if it's dropped.

I've used John Deeres for close to 30 years and my biggest gripe is their use of idiot lights instead of gauges. It would be nice if the Gator at least had a speedo and temp gauge.

The first things I'll fit on my 850D when it arrives are a voltmeter, temperature gauge, analogue clock and the following GPS unit....

I can't imagine a speedo kit costing much less than this, especially from Deere. And a speedo kit isn't portable to other vehicles and can't tell you where the heck you are (or aren't).

Another thing you can try is an electronic bicycle speedometer. All that you need is a magnet attached to wheel and sensor must be close as it rotates by and program for wheel diameter. Gps may be easier but you can find them in the $10-$20 range usually.
