Does anyone know the speed range of medium gear for the B2920?

I'm sorry that I do not know the actual answer, however I know it isn't 0-12 MPH.

0-12 MPH is the range for the tractor at rated RPM in HIGH gear. For medium the max number would be lower than this but I don't know it. I don't know why you asked the question but I can tell you that I operate my b2620 in medium 85% of the time if that helps any.

Thats why I asked. I actually don't have this tractor as of yet but would utilize med the majority of the time. Wanted to know approx. what that was.

well, if the three ranges evenly split the max speed (which from my usage that seems to be a fair assumption...I don't have a radar gun) then it would be as follows.

Lo. 4.2 mph
Med 8.4 mph
Hi 12.6 mph

Like I said this is just math and assuming that the ranges follow a 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 type scheme.

I use MED all the time with two exceptions. For really tough pushing/pulling I use LO. For traveling over 150 or so yards on smooth hard surface I use HI. For everything else including FEL work I use MED. I rarely use HI because it bounces my BH pretty hard when I hit a bump going that fast.

From my personal experience I would say the speeds above are pretty close to accurate. I usually don't use all of the pedal in MED due to it being pretty swift. Hope it helps, do you have any other concerns or questions with this series.

Again, Kubota does not list this speed in each gear, but all it would take is a GPS to find out. And Yes, the RPM would matter now, wouldn't it? You could be in medium gear and low RPM'S and it would not be the same speed as WOT.

Really appreciate the help fellas. Im looking at the B series and a JD 2520. I must say I cannot imaging not having a mid range like on the JD but I am attracted to certain ergonimics it has. I wish to do mowing at around 7mph or so around my farm and have read the JD doesn't mow well in high and low is too low.

Toddrdmd,

I have an HST B2320. My manual has the info on the speed range for the
B2320/B2620/B2920 series. Here is the info.

B2920 Travelling speeds (HST Type)

turf tires

Forward Low : 0 to 3.5 mph
Forward Med : 0 to 5.8 mph
Forward High : 0 to 11.7 mph

Farm Tires AG

Forward Low : 0 to 3.7 mph
Forward Med : 0 to 6.2 mph
Forward High : 0 to 12.6 mph

That is coming from the Operator manual. Hope it helps. I don't use my tractor for mowing because I have a ZTR JD717. I am 90 % of the time in Med range on the tractor and it seems to me fast enough.

Gyro, thankyou very much. I truly appreciate the info. A Ztr does interest me. Which do you have and do you like it? I am trying to get the most uses possible from the tractor but I could greatly benefit from a zero turn.

Toddrdmd,

I bought a used gas commercial John Deere 717A (48 inches mowing deck) 2 years ago before buying my tractor. At the time the machine was 3 years old and had 800 hrs in excellent condition. I paid 3600 cdn$. I could have had a residential ZTR for that price but I wanted more quality so I opted for a used commercial one instead. My initial plan was to buy my tractor (B2320) with the 56 MMM and sell my ZTR. After using the ZTR the first year I quickly realized that those machines are really designed for some serious grass cutting. I knew that the MMM on my future tractor would never meet the performance of the ZTR around trees, the ease of turning and also more lawn friendly. So instead of buying the 2200 $ MMM with the tractor I opted to keep the ZTR and buying the tractor without the MMM. It's costing me 1400 $ more but at the end I have 2 machines with excellent performances and tailored to their tasks. The JD717A has been excellent so far with no failures or maintenance issues.

The things to consider with a ZTR:

-Terrain should be generally flat, they are not the best in hilly terrain.
- They are really good around obstacles, much faster than a tractor
- Gas vs Diesel (gas model is much cheaper to buy, a 3 year old diesel is still close to 7-10 k) Gas is obviously more expensive to operate, but you are still better off for residential use IMO. If I would mow commercially, it would be Diesel for sure.
- Commercial vs Residential series: I really like the stronger components on it and also the power of the commercial. I however don't have warranties but If you search carefully you can find good used ZTR with good track record and good support.
