Wondering is anyone has had issues with their speed control pedal not returning to neutral? When I depress the pedal to go forward or backward and then let off, the pedal stays depressed and tractor continues to travel that direction. I was under it after plowing tonight and looked at all the linkage and return spring and that all appears to be good. I am thinking that the dampener that keeps the pedal from returning to neutral too abruptly may have extra resistance. Anyone had to replace one yet?

Thanks!

For me, its always a stick below the floor jammed between it and the linkage.

Make sure the area is clean and any rubbing or bearing surfaces are lubricated. A dampener usually becomes less resistive not more though you could certainly remove it and work it to see. While it's off you could even see if your pedal returns to neutral. I guess things could even be freezing or icing up on you.

Similar issue in my F3060

The pedal is actually hard to return from forward to neutral!
However when the engine is not running, the pedal moves very easily from forward to neutral position so it's not linkage related I think.

Need to study the shop manual more regarding adjusting the linkage and neutral etc.

As Roadworthy mentioned, possible freeze up??

If possible, unhook the dampener and then check movement.

I had problems with the pedal on my old L5030 not returning to neutral position. I had to take it apart and lube it up. I later installed a grease zerk. I gave it a bit of grease a couple times a year and never had a issue again.

Old dried dirt / dust packed grease will seize up a pin and sleeve. I’ve had to grind it out with a dremel before or take emery cloth to it.

I have a B2650 and the pedal sticks now and then, shuts off the tractor when Inget off the seat. Lubricate and clean fixes it.

My B2650 had the same problem. I had the dealer pick it up and repaired under warranty. They replaced the switch and the centering spring assy.

The f series mowers have a neutral arm assemble pt# k3511-95740 that returns the pedal to neutral. It is ussually the bearing pt# 08141-06000 on the arm that goes bad and causes the pedal to stick. The neutral arm is mounted on a cam that can be turned to set the neutral position if it is off.
