Send a couple of photos of his home, the trash, the terrible condition he leaves his dog, etc. to the internal affairs division of his department. They will look into it. You can of course remain anonymous. I gather he will figure out who sent it though.

I (we me and my wife) took care of it Sunday. They were home but I did it anyhow and they did not even step out of the house the whole 2 hours we were there. Although we did see the door open then close back.

Took box blade and scraped all around were the dog was chained to remove all the stuff that was tangling the chain.
Mowed the whole field
Trimmed up trees (one of them I did not like right to the ground /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif) and put it all at the road for the garbage man.
Played with the dog.
About an hour after we were done the lady come over and I hear her thanking my wife for us doing that then she says we were just about to come out and help but you got done so fast.
I could not take that I walk out and said “bull___ If you were going to do anything you already would have besides there is lots more that needs to be done and you should be ashamed for the way you are doing that poor dog and the poor guy has nowhere to get out of the rain not that you people care”

Come home last night and the dog was no longer on the chain he was running free in the field

I can see that in court... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Judge says, "lady so what you are tell me is the mowed you yard and did not ask to be paid? and you saw them doing this? and at what point did you ask them to stop? so last time it was so bad they stalled a full size tractor in you yard with a bush hog? and at that point did you tell them to never mow it again"

I think their plan is to get me(us) to clean it too but I am not going to

Is there a animal control officer that you can talk to without revealing the name of the guilty party. Just wondering if you can get an idea of what action they would take before revealing that they work with this person.

Best I can find out with the dog part is it would have to be in fairly bad shape for them to do much other than say "someone is worried and will be watching to be sure you don't abuse the dog"....I kind of did that myself and "I think" they will keep him feed and watered now if for nothing else to to shut me up.
so I guess that is the best I can do for the dog right now and some days that is enough to change thing a little for the better.

Chucko, you and your wife are good folks for trying to make this better for the dog. It take a lot of courage to do what you did, and I can only imagine the disappointment of seeing the dog moved to the (other) trash heap. There's some good suggestions here (I'll let you figure out which ones they are), just be careful. Best of luck, and again, my hat's off to you and your wife...

I too think what you did was heart felt. But I agree with some of the others.....
your asking for trouble.

This guy probably has friends. Want a ticket every week for "1 mile over the speed limit"?

What do you bet that since she's now paid you, she figures that you and they have a "contract" for you to do these same services for the next year! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If you don't show up regularly to take care of the area, she might sic a "cop" on you! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

When all else fails...

My wife and I work with the local shelter...a LOT. We see cases like this often. Not quite animal abuse but not a good life for the poor thing either. One thing I haven't seen mentioned here has worked for us on a number of occasions. Have you tried to talk them into giving up the dog? They certainly don't appear to be very attached to it. We have been successful with this approach. If they agree, work with your local shelter and do whatever you need to to find it a home. Sending it to the shelter is probably a last resort. From the sounds of it the dog is still actually better off where he is...at least temporarily.

Good luck!

MossRoad........... that Judge should be put out to pasture. His ruling is off the wall and not called for. I can see his ruling being proper if there was a history of this type of behavior, but a single incident, doesn't warrant this type of sentence.
