SPAM

Any tips on how to get rid of SPAM. The kids used my e-mail account to log into some trendy clothes and game places and I get about 20 per day. Just opened my e-mail and had 10, all spam.

This morning I got a note from Britney and when I opened it she wants me to see her naked. This is getting to be too much.

Are there any filters I can download to eliminate this stuff?

I use outlook express which evidently is the bane of some folks.. that said..I'm always adding Britnanys emails to my "blocked senders' list. I don't know how well it will work in the long run as I suppose senders change their names..but I've yet to get another offer to see Britany naked /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

That Britney sure does get around!

I used to get bombarded with that sort of stuff when I frequented (and posted on) the newsgroups. Anything binary (like scenery or images of woodworkers' latest projects) seemed to be the worst offenders. Since these spammers seem to share your address, in the end I wound up nuking that ISP account and opening another. And now that I avoid newsgroups (unless to lurk on DejaNews), spam is extremely rare.

Outlook filters work, but you've still got to download the stuff before it's sorted out and sent to the trash. For folks like me with slow connections, that's a problem in itself. Good luck!
