I know hydraulic fluid can enter crankcase through seals in the power steering and the hydraulic pumps. But is there any other possible way? I do not know what the rear engine seal area looks like. On older tractors I am familiar with, engine oil could leak through the rear seal and mess up the clutch but the excess oil would drain out a bottom opening in the bell housing and could not make it into the transmission. And on those tractors, the transmission/hydraulic oil could not make it into the engine by that path. It would simply drain out the bell housing.

But this tractor has a wet clutch and it is held actuated by hydraulic pressure, the hydraulic pressure holds the clutch engaged. So I am wondering if perhaps the hydraulic fluid can find a leakage path through a seal into the engine. I am grasping at straw I know.

Does anyone know of a Yanmar servicing dealer anywhere that I can call for some basic help. Someone in the world knows the answer. If you do not then please let me know if you think you might know someone who would know.

Have you had a fuel analysis done if not that would be my first step

How did you determine the extra crankcase oil is hydraulic fluid?

I have the EX450 shop manual, which is the older brother to the LX490, and the troubleshooting tables only indicate fuel could dilute the crankcase oil.

That's the main reason for a fuel analysis to determine what is actually in the oil

Just need to know if there is any other path for hydraulic fluid to get into the crank case besides via the hydraulic pumps on the side of the engine.
