Easiest way. Forget the rope. Run a light chain from drawbar to pin in top link connector on tractor. Drive a round punch into the last link of chain to expand it to be more circular to fit the pin in the top link. Attach chain to middle of drawbar with a shackle or a quick link.

I had a small JD tractor with a MMM with the same issue. The dealer sold me a kit to lock the hitch arms in place. I bet that NH has something similar.

Would closing that valve also prohibit the mower mid deck arms from lowering ?​

If like my 2400H Branson yes it would. If you restrict the arms from lowering the mid mount deck will not lower. Normally you don’t need to lower 3 point fully to mow so arms are not dragging on the ground.
