Well, last night I was transfering my horses from one paddock to another, and something spooked one of the rear horses, which then ran up on the horse I was leading. In the end, I got kicked.. pretty high, right shoulder/chest area.

Kinda stunned me but I stayed up.. didn't feel like getting kicked AND trampled.

Went on inside and took some naprox sodium, and headed for the ice bag. Swelling was already in full swing by then. Nice hoof shaped bruise / blood blister popped up almost instantly too. I walke din the house and the wife look over and asked if that was a hoofprint on my shoulder. I grunted somthing as I headed for the bathroom.

Iced it on and off for about an hour till the swelling abated a tad.. got a shower, and went to bed... took the ice pack with me to alternate it a bit.

Boy... hard to put on buckle up shoes / shirts.. comb hair.. and drive a stick with the off arm!

Hand and forearm are modile.. but moving the shoulder is a tad tender...

Oh well.. could have been worse.. i guess he could ahve kicked higher and got my head... then I guess his hoof would be swelled up too!

I have never personally owned horses but grew around them and riding them. I had good friends for neighbors that basically said, you know where the saddle and horse are, if you want to ride do it.

But I have always been scared of getting kicked, especially when they are a little ansy after being stalled for a while and come barrelling out. Seeing this video a year or so back hasn't helped any. It is amazing the power of a horse kick. In that video... one minute he's there, the next POOF he's gone.

I help out my renters with their horses that are in my pasture quite often. I don't care to be kicked like that and is probably the hidden DE-motivation for my never having horses of my own. God made combustion engines and 4 wheelers (and powered paragliders) for people such as me.

Ouuch.. you got popped good.. any reason to go get x-rays to see if they broke anything.. does it hurt when you breath? Better to be safe then sorry.. hope you heal fast!

I get kicked by the steers on a regular basis.. lately it's been the bull "Little Boy". Cows kick in a round-house swing.. so they always seem to hit my upper leg muscle.
