Farm down the road went up in flames. 5 alarm fire due to no water source. Our VFD rolled out with the water tank.

I guess luckily, if you want to call it that, only the main barn was destroyed along with the milk room.

It was in the middle of the night and folks driving down the road stopped and started pulling gates out of the ground, breaking the doors open etc to get the cows out.

With all the chaos from FD, they said 500 cows were running loose.
Wife said 20 didn't make it out. LEO's, neighbors, people driving down the road all got recruited to round up the cows.

Times are tough as it is, especially for farmers and they lost their primary income. Hope they have a plan to milk the wet cows

Nothing worse than a barn fire with livestock on board.

That many cows is going to require some good neighbors to pitch in to get them milked and fed.

I was going through the area on the way to work at 4AM, by that time the road was closed due to first responsers vehicles. Sheriff was diverting traffic.

Luckily all the livestock didn't run to far and all are accounted for. Drove by it on the way home and only a portion of the west wall was still standing, and the tank from the milk room which now is useless.

Luckily it is a tight community. The cows will be taken care of I'm sure.

That's rough; may your neighbors be blessed with the supportive community it sounds like you folks have. It's good to hear the majority of livestock made it, and especially that the family is well.
