I can throw $100 out the window and make it back tomorrow. I can't throw a day out the window and make it back tomorrow.

This summer I plan on going to the Cabin a lot more with my dad. I'm going to buy a fishing licence and fish the river with him. I haven't fished in 25 years, I use to do it all the time with him.

I don't need anymore money.
I learned long ago that the most precious thing anyone has is their time. Enjoy every minute you can with your Dad!

To anyone with kids I hope you spend as much time with them as possible.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree 100% what you are saying. 100%.
However, you can claw back days to enjoy.

There’s a couple ways to do this.
1. Get up earlier and finish up your work sooner to “earn back” more days off to enjoy. (work 4 10 hour days instead of 5 8 hour days. Then you have 3 days off instead of 2. Simplified, but you get the idea).

2. Take better care of your health so you can continue to do things you enjoyed doing when you were younger.

My dad has less time on this earth than me, mathematically speaking.

I can do those things, but it does not make him any younger. I need to seize the opportunity while it's still there and attainable. He's 73 and is finally starting to retire from a company he owned for decades. He had little time and I was developing my career, which prevented us from just enjoying the moment. We both realize it's time to enjoy some of the fruits of our labor.

It's always a moving target for me. I've saved years to but things and then after some time having the dreaded buyer's remorse... the buyers remorse hit me hard just now.

Love it. Well said. I hope you make it happen. My dad died early, so make sure you do it.

Father, Grandfather, Uncles and cousins on Dads side all pass away from active non retired life at 73…

It will be interesting should history repeat with the Grandsons.

For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away" -James 4:14

Kinda reminds me of ole Solomon, he said all the things we "achieve" in life are simply vanity. Generations come and go as do stuff, the earth abides forever. Sun rises and sets each day as it has for a long time. Ecclesiastes 1:2-8

Me, what would I want? I honestly can't think of a thing. I am grateful for yesterday, thankful for today and hopeful for tomorrow. Whether that is here on earth or hanging out with JC, dad, grandma, little brother what a day that will be.

This thread would be a heck of a lot easier if we knew if we were talking about material objects related to the website, or deep philosophical discussions about heaven & earth (which are more important, but maybe better in another thread?)

There are no wrong answers here.

Something I want but can't get or can't afford won't happen until I am no longer among the "living"...

Might get it at that point, but not sure how I would let you guys know ;)
