When I first started working in cryptography in the '90s I wanted a German WWII enigma machine. Back then they were $20k or so which was way more than I wanted to spend. Now it's more like 10x that for an early three rotor one (the most common and lowest value) and I can't even find a price for a four rotor model.

The Enigma (the allied name for it) was a field portable cipher machine where you set the key and then typed in plaintext and got ciphertext on the output, or the reverse. The output was letters that would light up.

The other 280 acres to the north and 400 acres to the south of the original land claims my property is built on.

Or I'd settle for decent fences around all of the existing fields.. man have posts and fence wire gotten expensive.
neither will be any cheaper than they are today.. I went yesterday and bought a new Kawsaki mule ranch edition. . I really didn't want to spent that amount of money on that thing, but I figured they'll never be any cheaper than they are right now.
I have bought brand new vehicles cheaper than this thing !!!!

I'd love a new F250 but can't fathom the payments. I'm debt free except for a few medical bills and could afford it...but damn, I'm sure the payments are high.

Our 2008 f350 will have to suffice for now
I'd love to have a clean 2008 F350 but can't justify the expense. 😉

If it is something money can buy it would be the place I made a full price offer not knowing just hours prior the seller accepted a 100k lower offer…

The way Real Estate has appreciated in this little slice of close-in heaven on 5 pastoral acres with rare city water that the owner paid dearly to bring 1 mile in for fire hydrants at great expense it’s probably now tripled in price…

I do keep in touch with the buyer and he says talk to my widow when they carry me out.

Even if I could somehow figure out a way the property taxes would eat me up…

It was built by a well to do family where money was no object and 2012 property prices were still in the dumps and the widow wanted out.

It would be nice to leave city living and move to the county… even though it’s only about 30 minutes away, it’s a slice of heaven.

There is an inholding on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, in the River of No Return-Frank Church Wilderness Area, which I would love to own. Has it's own hydropower setup, and hot spring. Buildings are heated hydronically, as is the swimming pool. Several acres of fruit trees, and pasture.

I've learned over the years, that no matter how much you want something, after owning it for awhile, it becomes unimportant. While I'm not going to get rid of my CTS-V coupe, I'm not going to trade it on a Bentley Continental which used to be my dream car.

I read the post kinda like the age old "if I won the lotto" not as things you want that arent available.

A 80 acre hunting property with a cabin, southern extreme end of the Appalachians.

A fully enclosed, conditioned shop, with organization, where you can work on stuff and not fight weather, dirt, and hunting down tools in 7 different piles/bins/boxes.

A Imperial stamped Winchester 1895 in 7.62x54R

Oh, and an odd one; a small breeding herd of american bison, maybe 2 bulls, 20 head of cows, and the room/facilities for them.
