Folks,
I have not researched this too much, but I was wondering if anyone would have an idea of a good gun case that would be completely weather proof and rigid in design. I would like to mount it (or attatching brackets) either on my rollbar or on my fiberglass canopy. It is a pain to try and drive and hold a rifle on your lap at the same time. I would need to make sure it was large enough to hold a rifle with a scope. Preferably I would be able to detatch the whole case and take it to the house if so desired.

Thanks
Hillbilly

Hiya Hillbilly, check out the 4 wheeler dealers in your area. I know they make cases for them. Just a thought though, I know up here, you can't drive a motorized vehicle with a loaded weapon. Even though, sometimes on the highway....... Just kidding.

Keep the greasy side down.

Have you looked at ATV accessories... a molded gun case with hardware that mounts on an ATV rack certainly could mount on a fender or rops or loader mount etc. with a little mod...

Just don't shoot and shift at the same time... could be hazardous to one's health .../w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Hillbilly,
I'm just curious as why you would want to have a rifle on you while on the tractor. I'm not against guns in any way, so don't take my question in that kind of way./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But yeah I have one of these molded cases that go on a four wheeler rack that would work good for you. you can get one at www.Cabelas.com , I think there ae like 50 bucks or so. Hillbilly,
I looked at Cabelas, and the have the case. you can also buy a quick release mounting bracket. I don't know if its possilble to make it fit somewhere on the tractor. Cliff

To answer your question there are several reasons.
1. My girlfriends husband.
2. Terroists
3.Revenuers
4.I am in a militia (not)
5.The paranoias are after me.

No,seriously
deer season is about a month away and I can take my tractor to the woods and if the weather is bad,I can sit on the tractor and with my canopy I will stay dry, also when I am out working in the field it is nice to have a 22 rifle in case you see a ground hog or fox/coyote (and get him mounted) etc.....

I think I'd worry more about number 1 than 2 or 3.

Growing up on the farm we always had a gun out in the field (my pappy did, God rest his soul). He even kept a 22 pistol in the glove box or in the springs on the backside of the seat in the pick up in a holster.I am talking 25 to 30 years ago,he also kept a pint of Siegrams 7 or Schenley Reserve on the front seat with a rag laying over top of it,I was a kid and I was thankful the law never pulled us over. I do neither of the 2. Times have changed.I do hunt but I leave the liquor alone.
I remember going to school on the school bus and looking out the window at the local beer joint one morning and a big sheet of black plastic was hanging over the front, some guys came down from town and started a fight and got there rear ends kicked, and every one went back inside and thought they were leaving, well they decided before they left they would leave a little something, and drove there car clear through the cinder block into the bar and backed out and the cops caught them up town with a table cloth wrapped around the grill.
My dad said all he could remember was bar chairs getting squeezed up against his legs while he tried to get out side.

Kolpin makes the best gun boot that you find on atv's and cost around $65. We carry guns around our farm all the time mostly for dogs, coyotes or woodchucks. I don't carry one on the tractor if I did it would probally be a pistol as it is hard to mount the gun boots on a tractor and be able to get the gun out in a hurry. Good luck
