Some PT180 project pics.

Just wanted to share some pictures of some work I did a few Saturdays ago. I mentioned what I did earlier in this thread here. But I'll recap along the way here...

In this one you'll see the 15 tons of fill dirt and 10 tons of slag I had delivered to the house.

The fill was to help extend the drive directly behind the fill pile. It dropped off directly next to the garage and last year (pre-PT) I had a guy bring some fill out with a Bobcat who started this project but it wasn't enough.

In this one you can see me moving the pile back.

The 180 at work... I tried scooping the pile anywhere from 1/2 way to 2/3 of the way up versus taking bites out of the bottom of the pile.

The PTs nice soft rear bumper hardly left a scratch on my trailer when I backed into it. NOT!

That trailer is one of those TSC 4'x8' trailer kits. I used it to move the 180 with bucket about 25 minutes down the road to the in-laws and back. It worked but it was pushing it's capacity I think.

35 minutes later and it was all moved back and pressed down as much as a 180 with full bucket could compact it.

Unfortunately I forgot to pick up the camera for a while but I cut in a sidewalk with the LMB and then began filling it with about 2" to 3" of slag. Then I set down some 18" by 18" cement blocks I had been using as walking steps through the yard and then layed down another 2" layer of slag which left the blocks flush with the slag.

Now on to giving the 180 a home... The PT was living in the garage but I needed a cheap place to move it to. One day a few weeks before at Harbor Freight I found one of those portable garages for about $150. It is supposed to be 8' by 16' but measures closer to 9' by 17'. Anyways, I forgot the camera again for the ground leveling. Which actually wasn't leveling at all, I just scrapped out the grass and a little of the top soil to "eyeball" a level area. I learned during this project that I CAN NOT "eyeball" level! I can eyeball flat or smooth pretty well but not level. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This picture shows me moving more of the slag over to the site. I still wasn't real concerned for a perfectly level site for this temporary garage but I decided to pound in some 1" by 2" guides to at least get me closer... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

OK one guide wasn't enough so a pounded in another on the other side. Now it's starting to look good enough for me. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Did I mention slag is HEAVY! I could get a good scoop at one time. I had to flick the bucket back then scrap in some more. When it was full (level not heaping) I could drive slow and straight otherwise it was pucker time! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Actually the rear wheels raising do not give me any kind of uneasy feeling at all. I actually learned to work with it... Sounds odd but I imagine a few of you know what I mean. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now to start putting up the garage. I did this by myself and it wasn't too bad. Up to the point in this picture it was real easy.

To get to this next step meant throwing out the instructions. I'm sure they would work well for two people but I had to modify the procedure to do it myself. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The wife came out and help me throw the "cover" on and then I bungie tied it all down. Just made it before the rain started falling!

Here's the local inspector checking it out the day after.

You'll notice in that last picture that the cover doesn't come all the way down to the ground. Not a problem, I still have more slag!

I went and took a bucket full of slag inside and began shoveling a berm around the inside edges.

To some who are used to having tractors or skidsteers this may not seem like a big deal but for me completing these three projects in a single day was just amazing!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I normally have just a few hours here or there in a week to work on outside projects and the 180 is helping me run through my list in a big way! I am so glad I found this forum a couple years ago and am very thankful to all who have given help and advice here and at Power-Trac! You guys rock! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
