Solid PTO shaft (nonsliding)?

/ Solid PTO shaft (nonsliding)? #11
I think I would look at replacing pto shaft with one that does adjust have to agree it would be hard to install and if you raise or lower 3 point hitch if I remember geometry class wont shaft change length

.....the bagger bolts in place and can not move it really does not matter because the length won't be changing .....

Is the bagger the Kubota model for your BX? If so, I can't imagine it would have the wrong sized shaft. But I'm also not understanding when you say it "bolts on" to the tractor.

On mine, the shaft would appear too short while it's sitting on the feet-things, as it is leaning back. I back up to it so the bottom pins (with their adapter bushings) are above the backhoe cradle-things. Then get off, attach top link, and start twisting it to shorten. The bottom pins settle into the cradles, and the shaft keeps getting closer. Soon it touches, then slides on as I continue to shorten the top link. Eventually it has pushed all the way on, when the top pins on the frame are ready to be slid in.

If this is some other bagger, ignore my ramblings...

Thanks for the help everyone. Let me try and explain the bagger a bit. The one I am using is made by Humboldt. They are the people that build the factory units for several major brands (Massey, some scag units, etc). The bagger is made for a different machine so I had to change the top link position so it can not rotate and lengthen the shaft. I also just made chain links to lock the height after I disconnected both side links so the hitch will not go up or down with the mower deck. To install the shaft, You basically tip the unit, slide the pto shaft on then secure the top link. This keeps everything in place so it does not move. Takes about 10 minutes max to install. The bagger system is a 3 bag similar to Kubota's and extremely heavy duty. It's a little work to set it up the first time but it was worth it to save $1000 over the Kubota system. Anyway hope this helps explain it a bit better and the reason a sliding shaft is not required.
