Sold my 312 today :-(

Well the 312 blew the bearings on the mower deck last spring and I didn't have the time to fix it. So I went down to my dealer and bought a new one and the 312 sat all year in the shed beside it's snow blower. Not needing two riders I offered it to a friend of mine that likes such projects and he ponied up the cash and we loaded it up into his truck today. I only had it a year and I took a loss on it but it started with just a jump to the battery after a long winter and a years sit. I doubt the new one will serve as well.

About an hour to replace the bearings and your friend will have a great mower.

You do not even have to use the expensive John Deere stuff. My local bearing house usually has the replacements in stock. If they have sold out as they do in the spring because everyone has to mow: they can get another round of the proper bearings in three days. Far cheaper then the ,"offical" JD parts.

Oh the mower deck had rust issues and will need a lot of rehab or a complete replacement. The guy who bought is a skilled welder and can refit it as needed. The girls like running the new 300.
