So what do I have ??

Bought a Sears LT-1000 20 hp OHV tractor. The guy I bought it from thinks its a 2003. The tag under the seat says it complies with ANSI safety standards for 1998. The engine tag says it complies with California emission codes for 2006.. In case I buy attachments I'd really like to know if its a 98 or an 06 or somewhere inbetween.

Underneath the hood it says it holds 64 oz of lubricant. Sounds like an awful lot to me. ( although my 74 D-180 Wheel Horse holds 4 quarts )

And.... there seems to be a place where an oil filter should be, it even have a oil filter appearence cover but no filter. Whats up ? Rides nice, plenty of power. What can I expect with this ? Anyone have a snowthrower on one and how does it work ? I'm in NE Pa. and can have a foot or more on occasion ?

if its a briggs engine, the first two numbers of the code indicates what year the engine was made, in this case 2002

Ok.. so I'm wondering why the engine tag says it complies with California emmisions etc etc.. for 2006. I'd think if the engine was recently replaced he would have said so.

Does anyone have experience running a 2 stage snowthrower with this machine and with what results ?

It met the California requirement 4 years early. There is lead time on these standards. It was merely pointing forward.
