OK So I read so many posts about how great Barlow Tractor KY is great and how they can save you money.... and I don't doubt that is the case... for some.

Can I really expect them to be that competitive if I live 1000 miles (according to google maps) away?

Have any members in the New England area bought tractors from Barlow? If so, would you recommend them over a local dealer?

I don't want to sound like I'm doubting the reviews people have given them, I just want to understand how competitive they can be at this distance.

Only one way to find out........ get a quote from them.

Then get one from tax free NH. ;)

You would be doing yourself an injustice if you do not call and get price comparisons. That is how most people end up buying from them. I am only 4 hours away from their facility and have only talked to Barlows over the phone and they are great to deal with. I have bought 2 tractors and a few implements from them over the past couple of years.:thumbsup:

I live in Wisconsin, bought a tractor from Brady, very happy with what I purchased. They wouldn't do it if they were not making something. Volume says a lot. Waiting for something that you want to surface in your area can take years. Pays to take a look.

It also keeps your local quotes honest in your own mind.

I would have ordered from Barlows based on their quote, but my local dealer virtually matched it. Some of my local quotes were $1000 more.

I live in Maine and if I was buying a Kubota, Barlow's would get a call before I went to the local dealer shopping.

They have an impeccable reputation.

Not to get off track, but what do you do for warranty/parts/service if your 1000+ miles away? Just take to the local dealer?

I live in CT and talked to Barlows. They are fantastic to work with but Emerichs in NY is a tie in my opinion.

The folks in MA were better on pricing. I checked CT RI NH and ME

I spent a year shopping . There will always be be good deals but the good dealer always wins !

The tax free in NH is getting harder to work with as they are hunting renegade tractor shoppers down to pay their tax !

Cheers,

RD

Hmmm....they must depend on out of state business to stay afloat. I was in Somerset for a business meeting a couple of weeks ago and I visited their lot. I had cash money in my pocket but nobody there seemed very interested in selling me a tractor. They wouldn't hardly even talk to me when I asked about the machines on their lot. They weren't rude or anything like that, they just seemed indifferent to me.

Of course it was a Friday afternoon near closing time. I was also wearing a tie, so they might have thought I was the tax inspector. :)
