A rear tine York rake works well on removing gravel..

Until your packed down driveway turns to a slushy ice covered mess in my experience.
It sure does. How ever that only matters to the person who's dragging the garbage cans out to the road once a week and that's me. Il gladly take a few seconds extra of walking in some slush vs raking gravel out of the lawn for a few hours.

I made brackets that will hold plow shoes and they really help when you don't want to dig stuff up. They work if the plow is forwards or backwards and work in grass or gravel. When really soft, they will leave grooves but it is still better than without. Most times I try to pack the first snow down for a base so I don't have to put the shoes on and I do run the plow backwards on the gravel.

My push blade has mounts for putting wheels on it, and once i got the wheels, that really helped. They mount right behind the plow. Now i just have to watch that i don't climb up over the plow when it's in float.
