This is a wing type setup I have been working on. A few people expressed some interest in it. I hope it my spark an idea in some of the very creative minds on this forum. The wing setup did not perform to my expectations.

The wing is not big enough (tall) and not off set enough. What happens is that there is so much snow that ¾ of the bit falls back into the road and ends up making more work. The trip edge is a problem due to them tripping in heavy snow, but nice to have if you do hit some thing. I also ran into traction problems going up hill with the ice, even with chains. My intentions were for it to be used as a wing. It would work well mounted centered and used as a plow. The only modifications to my bucket were 3 holes, (2) 7/8 and (1) 3/8. To remove the plow just release the 2 pins in the push frame and unhook the chain.

Back to the drawing board, again.

This pictures shows the push bar and hook. This is not my hook for pulling or carrying things. I don't have a sturdy hook on my bucket yet. Still uncretain how to arrange them.

oops! forgot the attachment!

Thomas.

No, juste bolted the pushframe to bucket bottom. But it is at the back of the bucket against the back side. The shop is nice, it should be we use it to make a living. We actually have 4 bays. One 9k lb. twin post lift, one drive on 11k lb. lift. Approx 50 x 55 bock building with 14 ft ceilings. Nice to have to work or modify things for the tractor.

Hi Derek this is Scaper. I saw your pictures today and it's funny that I did, I just got home from a Meyers dealer in Toughkennamin P.A. . Guess what he had in his shop? A 3010 Kubota that he was installing a 7 1/2' Meyers Poly blade in the bucket. Said he has been doing this for local farmers for the past few years and they love the set up. He does about the same thing you are doing but he puts the clevis set up in the center. He installs a piece of 6x6 1/4" angle in the rear of the bucket with a clevis bar welded to it dead center. He mounts it by drilling 3, 3/4" holes through the bucket where the stiffner plates run from the front to rear under the bucket. He then mounts the A frame via the two spring loaded pins to the clevis. Next is the sector which allows the blade to pivot. then the blade. My bucket is 17 1/2 " deep from the leading edge of the bolt on HD cutting edge to the back part of the inside of the bucket where it starts to angle up. The bucket is 60" wide so he cuts a 6x6 1/4" angle 59" long to use as the back stop for the clevis mount. The one I saw had the chain form the front portion of the frame hooked to a clevis hook on the top center of the bucket. He lifted the bucket up and there was no movement to the plow what so ever. The main portion of the plow frame is supported by the flat inside section of the bucket. This looks like a sweet setup as you can plow then remove the blade quickly to pile snow with the loader bucket. I think that the setup that Kadonte had was way cool, his requires that the bucket be removed and that isn't that big a deal on my tractor ( TC33D New Holland 7308 loader)so I'm not sure which way I'm going to go yet. I had a plow available to me 6 1/2 ' meyers but my friend sold it this past weekend so I'm now looking again. What do the folks recommend for a 33 Hp. tractor 6'-6 1/2-or 7 foot plow. I have been told to stay at no more then 6 1/2' for mine but this fellow said 7 or 71/2' would be fine. I think that would be alot of snow for a 33 Hp 4wd tractor. So how about some input from other readers. Good luck I think as you said you would have been fine if you had it centered and used it for the main plow. Scaper

Sounds like the plow dealer know his stuff. You can stack snow with the blade and if you curl and push, you'll stack the snow higher than with the bucket only. I would go with at least 7' maybe a 7.5'. A 6' or 6.5' blade will not cover your tracks when the blade is angled. The size depends on the type of snow and how much you get. I have found out that the traction of the tractor is in 12" of snow is great, unlike a plow truck. So if the tractor can't push it, pick up the blade and leave a little snow and make another pass. I know it would work centered as a main plow but the trucks are faster getting to the drives than the tractor. Let me know if you got some questions.

Hi Derek, well I fell into a manure pit today and came out smelling like a rose. I called about a 6 foot Meyer's plow and got a wrong number on Thursday morning. But low and behold the man named Craig told me his boss had two six foot Meyer's plows for sale , they had both been on S10 Blazers. Well I told him to let me know a price as soon as he talked to his boss and I might be interested in one of them. He called back on Saturday morning and told me his boss said 200 for the plows and 50 for the Blazer mount system. Well, I told him I would come up this morning and take a look at the plows so I met him there at his Boss' shop and found the plows to be in great shape hardly used if I may say so, but instead of six foot plows they were six and a half feet each and were poly to boot. Markers on both, top snow deflectors, great cutting edges and frames. Well I said I would take one of them and he asked why not take both since they were identical plows? I said that the price was more then I wanted to spend for both and he asked "what 200 is too much for both?" I about dropped a load right then and there. I said you want two hundred for both , well I think I'll take them both so I have parts. He said great my boss will be glad to see them go since everyone around here runs full size blades. Well they are sitting in the drive way as we speak and I'm starting on the mounts this week so I'll keep ya posted. Sometimes it pays to wait for the right deal.
See ya, Scaper

Scaper,
That's great. Isn't it funny how things turn out sometimes? Do you think it will be very hard to get the blade mounted with that kit? Much modification?

Scaper,

Wow, talk about a deal - I'd be happy to make out that good at an auction! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

I wish I were closer to you - I'd pay you $200 for ONE of the blades only and let you get all your money back./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Happy Plowing,

Scraper,
You got a heck of deal there!!
Once you get the plow attach to your bucket and do some snow plowing your going to like it even more.

Keep an eye open for equipment auctions also, for you can come up w/some great deals at low prices.

Scaper,

Sounds like you got quite a bargain. To quote a friend of mine "its a good deal as long as you have a use for it". I know I would. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Around here I could sell one for twice the price in heartbeat.

You said they were poly. I never see many of that type, sounds ideal for mounting to the bucket. I read the description on how its mounted. What about power angling using the curl and dump circuits?
Keep us posted.

BTW I see from your profile your in Delaware.
Now let me think. Who else is in Delaware that maybe can use the other one?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Hey Gordan, I would like to say I would sell one of these but I would have to be a fool to let a plow go even for twice as much. I would never be able to replace it for even that much, like I said I know I came out smelling like a rose. God smiles on those who do his work is all I can say. My grandmothers fav saying. I would be happy to ask if they have another plow for sale maybe a 7 foot. It seems to me he said something about a 7 foot yesterday maybe a 71/2. I'll call him or if he doesn't mind I'll send you his number, like I said I was happy as a pig it poop when he said $200.00 for both. As for mounting it in the bucket I am going to make a mount for inside the bucket but I'm also making a frame like Kadonte did for a bucket replacement system. I'm doing some things different then Kadonte did . Instead of making the four plates to replace the loader mounting plates, I'm going to use 6x6x3/8ths angle if I can find it. this way I don't have to put gussets in along the sides of the plate. I will have plenty of stiffness in the angle. Then I'm going to use the plows clevis hookup and weld this to the frame made of 2x3x1/4 box tubing. At the top center of the cross piece I'm welding 4x4x1/4 angle to support a top link. Then I'm backing that with a piece of flat plate 1/4" thick from the bottom of the loader frame to the top of the angle . On the plows A frame I'm going to replace the chain loop with two pieces of 4x4x1/4 angle. Four holes later I will have a stout top link, lower and upper bracket. This I will use to support the blade while raising and applying down pressure as needed. I like Kadonte's setup but have made a few changes. His bracket to support the frame of the A section to the top of his loader frame is one solid piece, he also welded his A frame to the bottom cross member of the new tractor loader frame. Nice job but I want some adjustment in this are of the loader frame section. I am also going to leave the solid 1 1/4" mounting tabs on my A frame so I can pin it to the clevis section for quicker attachment. I will be able to pull three pins and disconnect two hose fittings to drop the plow and keep the frame on the loader arms. This will help when I make up a set of forks for the same frame!! Always thinking ahead. So anyway this seems to be the best idea I can come up with. I did the drawings today for the fabrication work and as soon as I can figure this here scanner I just bought I will send an attachment with a thread post. Ok here we go to brass tacks, I do have one question for those out there with more experience then I have with truck plows and tractor hydraulics. How the heck do you set up a single action plow cylinder to a tractor system????? My loader cylinders are all double action as far as I know (curl-lift) so how do I set this thing up. I talked to the Meyer's service rep today and he said that the best thing would be to replace the single acting cly. with a double acting one on just one side of the plow. I question the strength of this setup but i don't have enough experience to know, Sooooooooooooo I need some input gentlemen ( and ladies) if you know what way to go. Do I put in a valve to conpensate for the return flow of the single acting cyl. or go with one cyl on the plow that is double acting? I know, boy I have said alot , but hey that's why we are here, to get information from those that know. Ok bye for now.

Mark (Scaper) -

First you need a doodle on a server somewhere. Most folks create their "artwork" on their local computer, using various drawing programs. Then you can upload it to the TBN server by attaching it to any message you post.

Once the image file is in place, go to the Basic Profile page after clicking Edit Profile. Look for a text box labelled "Signature" and enter the full address of your image between [image] tags (the closing tag requires a slash character '/' -- "/image" in the square brackets).

If you're not sure how to get the address, just open the image in your browser and copy the address that shows in the address field near the top of your window.

You're a New Holland kinda guy, right? If you want, you're welcome to this doodle I created a while back -
