Snowplow for Kubota 2910

Well I've started my snowplow project.

I secured a 7.5 foot Meyers 4-way plow. I wanted a 6 foot plow.
So I took an angle grinder to it with lots of cutting wheels.

I cut nine inches off each end and ground off the structural supports
from the back of the cut pieces.

I welded the supports back on the plow.

I have taken the A-frame and trimmed 10 inches off that and
reengineered the geometry.

I picked up the 1/4 steel today to fab the mount on the tractor.

What is everyones thoughts about removing the two one-way hydr cylinders
in favor of a single two-way cylinder for power angle.

I will be using a two-way cylinder for the lift and down pressure..

Sounds good. I have also found a used Meyers plow and plan to make it fit on my B3030. It is an 8 footer that I will cut down to 6'. I am looking forward to see how you are trimming down the A-frame and mounting it to the tractor. As far as changing the two single acting cylinders for 1 double acting, I don't know why that will not work. I probably won't have time to get mine working this year so I can't wait to see what ideas you come up with. Good luck.

Mounted a 7' Meyers on my old Farmall 340. Since tractor was bigger than my B2910 I did not have to shorten it. It served me for 20 years. I'm sure current owner is still using it.

One nice aspect of cutting down a larger plow is that
you get the higher moldboard height of the bigger plows.

The Kubota plow is 21 inches, I think the Meyers is 24.

Here you go... The plow trimmed down to 6 feet

End supports welded back in and a first coat of paint.

Here are the ends that I trimmed off...

This is the A-frame trimmed down and you can
see how I've narrowed it up

I will straighten it, clamp it and weld it.

I still have to cut the tab out of one side.

This frame will put the plow about 3 inches closer
to the machine than the cutting edge of the bucket.

Pardon my ignorance but how many HP is your tractor and how much does it weigh? I'm putting a 7' Fisher on my 790 Deere I'm mounting it on to my loader. I'm hoping it's not too heavy for it. I'm thinking it's lighter than a full buket of material.

The machine is a 30HP and weighs somewhere around 2600 or 2800 lbs with loaded tires.

I had a 7ft fisher clamped out in the loader. For me and this
is personal preference, It's way too far out on the loader arms.
The swing of the machine gets pretty long and its
hard to get in tight places.

But if your doing a long straight driveway you'll be ok.

When the plow gets too big the front of the machine
will get pushed sideways in deep heavy snow... bouncing
off snowbanks..

I'd rather a smaller faster moving plow.

I'm going to remove the bucket and make it quick attach to the loader. If this turns out not to work I'll probably cut the blade down to 6'. Good luck. I'll post photo's once mine is finished.

You'll need a third valve to power angle the plow...

Are you going to use a diverter or run off rear remotes?

I'm going to add a Fasse Diverter valve; $330.00 from Deere.
It's going to be cheaper and a cleaner set up to do it that way rather than add a beyond kit and valve to the tractor.

I just got in a little while ago.... Stopped and bought myself a mig welder.

I used a neighbors to get as far as I have but I wanted one for myself.

I picked up a Lincoln 3200HD... 135 amp DC mig welder.

So I should be able to make some good progress this weekend.

Update:

I picked up the steel for the frame on the tractor.

I'm using 2x2x1/4 inch angle stock.

I cut all the peices and bolted them in place.
I clamped the frame together and tacked it with the welder.

I removed the frame from the machine and proceeded
to do the final welds.

I picked up the 2X8 inch 2-way hydraulic cylinder
from TSC and had the hoses made up and added the
quick connects for the loader valve.

I have a few more peices to do this weekend and I'll
be close to done.

The final part of the project will be the angle cylinders.

I'll take some picks this weeked.
