I don't know what it is about the south, but roads south of the Mason-Dixon line are worse with 1-3 inches of snow than I used to remember with 1-3 feet in New England.

If you really need to get to the bottom of the drive with the tractor, you could always put the
subsoiler on and then to slow down, drop the subsoiler down and let it dig in and slow you
down. :D since you are not used to the snow, I would use common sense and stay in til
it melts. better safe than sorry...

Your tractor should handle that without a problem. Put it in 4x4 drive. You probably could pull everything back up the hill! When we get 3 "- we don't bother to clean it up usually. Most of the danger comes from overuse of the brakes and sudden use of the steering wheel- starts a skid. Use low gear going down the hill. Coming up do it at a higher speed. Always stop and slow down in a straight line. Try not to slow as you start a turn (drifts on you). I think the real danger is in getting hit by other drivers! Your golf cart has all of the wrong gear ratios for snow driving. Never spin the tires.
Learn by doing! We have all done at least 1 360. Once I did a 180 and ended up straight in the other lane facing the other way!

Have some fun with it.

We have a steep driveway, with 3 inches of snow my tractor would stay in the garage.

Skytime, I am going to be 40 miles west of you next weekend. can you keep some of that white stuff till then? I have not been able to play in it since I left Long Island 35 years ago.

The road surfaces are probably not frozen. So, the snow forms an icy surface, especially when driven on.

We are looking at the same type of snow here in NC. Dont listen to the Yankee's for tractor advice !!!! Remember they re elected Obama for his second term.
Just my thoughts.

ya, places that rearly see snow cant handle it. they have to close schools, etc....they just have no way to deal with the stuff.

Here i north idaho a 6" snowfall will only delay school 1 hour usually. Then again, this year weve hardly seen any snow cause you Georgia people have stolen all of our snow:cool2:

I'm sort of in the same boat...in N.E GA and have about 4 inches...it's not expected to melt for a day or two...can a regular car drive safely with this much snow? should I blade it off?

BTW...I just ordered a set of 2-link chains for my golf cart...I learned last year "they don't go in the snow"...

Any short and sweet advice for a snow virgin moving snow with a (reversible) rear blade? also have a rake and BB...

up here, 4" of snow doesnt require plowing unless
1. rain is eminent very soon
2. a deep freeze is expected

otherwise we let it thaw. its real easy to drive thru unless its ice underneath.

i added snow chains to my golf cart years ago. made all the difference in the world
