My old Toro walk behind snowblower is on her last legs. I've been looking at new ones, all different brands, and I'm shocked at how cheaply they seem to be made. I ran across a used garden tractor mounted blower for my hydro drive, 17hp John Deere. This is a garden tractor bought from a JD farm dealership, not the cheaper discount Lowes type. Anyway, are these garden tractor snow blower units a joke or a worth while tool?

My drive is several hundred feet long and surfaced with crushed stone. I was thinking of replacing the old snowblower with a back blade for my 35 hp Kubota. I talked with a Kubota dealer who sells both back blades & walk behind blowers. He told me that after having used a blower, I would not be satisfied with a blade. Hmmm, and I could have used the blade for dirt work.

Now, I'm trying to decide how to go. Try the front mounted JD blower on the hydrostatic garden tractor, used for $700. Buy a medium duty rear blade for the Kubota and use it with the front loader I already have. Consider a Rear mounted blower for the kubota. Move down South.

I'd apprecaite anyones input. I'm thinking of giving the JD unit a try but I'm not sure if they're a toy or a real blower.
