It looks like we dodged a bullet with this storm. About 18 inches overnight and while it's still coming down at a fairly good rate the heaviest part is past and there's no way it's going to amount to more than a couple of feet. Plus it's cold enough that the snow is light and fluffy, not that wet and heavy stuff we often endure this time of year.

Cheers! Pete

Morning Pete.
Deer heard shown up for snack sooo that must mean the storm coming to end soon...now the gusty windys are picking up 15-22mph. :(

Looks like mud season will be extended couple more weeks now. :( good ole New England weather. ;)

My goal this time of year is to expend as little time and fuel moving stuff that will melt in two weeks.

I wonder if my wife is home on the tractor plowing for me again?

I was looking forward to playing in the mud!

So much for those plans, About 12" the last few inches are heavy wet ice cristals.

Suiting up now. Dogs had fun in the snow.

It';s 06:30 AM here in NS and we have about 2 inches of frozen sleet on the ground with rain to come as per the forecast. Windows on the east and south of the house are covered with frozen sleet.

I've got some good books from the library and a fire to stoke. That should make my day. :D

Egon,
We only have about a 1/4" of ice covering everything and it chips off really easy. My driveway is a glare but can be navigated, don't ask me how.

Wow....this one has been ugly. My 750+ ft driveway had ice then snow then sleet.....even the 4 wheel drive BX had trouble.....good thing for the chains or I probably wouldnt have finished the drive. I went through 7 shear bolts on the front mount snowblower.....good thing I had plenty.

Did the ice bog down the engine? I had to go real slow or the engine would bog down, or slow down. No black smoke, but I could hear it working hard. I broke one sheer pin, first time in the 3 years of cleaning driveways this has happen. I saw it was broken when I was putting away the tractor and cleaning the blower off.

Now can this be IT for snow season??, I sure hope so, I want to try out the new Gator blades on the 60"MMM.:D

Well, 15" of snow here. No sleet or ice. Nice snowman snow.

Took the tractor out and ended up breaking two shear pins. I think I tried to clear a bit too much this time. Both times I was on the side of the driveway and klunk. So it took a bit longer but boy it was fun!

I've come to the conclusion that 1) I'm glad I bought the front blower instead of a rear and 2) I invested in the parts for an electric chute deflector & rotator. Just makes my life so much easier on that thing.

Oh, and Mike... I would NEVER lie about a snowstorm. :)
I just enjoy rubbing it in to all of my 'winter sucks' friends. Gotta get my jabs in when I can you know!

My Sig. Other even took a few picts of me... Enjoy this one.

Keith

Well, it's now 04:00 PM up here in NS. The temperature is near plus 10 and rain is falling. Ice sheets of this morning are gone. I'm starting the second book. :D :D :D

Pete, sounds like a real good time could be had on Stowe.:D :D

Like you, I had to go real slow....plus the heavy crust of sleet on top and ice on the driveway made for a hard and slick surface.

Engine bogged down a few times but I just increased the RPM and kept on going.

My driveway has ~20 degree hills (3) and 90 degree turns (3) and a bridge. It is nice living in the middle of the woods except in the winter....

But it was alot a fun and finally got a chance to really put the new bota and snowblower to work this year. The previous snowstorms were minor and I used the backblade on those.

I hope I can now switch over to the front end loader and get ready for spring.
