Ken here in Meaford,got 14" of snow last night.I try to blow wet heavy snowwith my 2 speed blower but shute plugs up in low speed 500 rpm.I found it works best in 1000 rpm in reverse creeped gear.is this the wrong blower speed .should I use just reverse for transmission and 500rpm for blower ?

2 speed blower? What blower are you using? What engine RPM are you running at? The reason I ask is that when selected to the 540 RPM position, you only get the 540 RPM at the PTO shaft output when the engine RPM is running at it's max governed RPM(full throttle), probably around 2200-2300 RPM on your tractor's tach. This area should be marked in green on the tachometer indicating the proper area to get the rated RPM on the PTO shaft.

My experience with PTO impliments is limited, but I have never run across one rated for 1000 RPM on the PTO shaft. They have always been 540 RPM inputs. If you are running the engine at less than max rated engine RPM(say around 1200-1500 RPM), then selecting the 1000 RPM PTO position would yield a PTO RPM in the vicinity of 540 RPM. Have you tried running the tractor at full throttle, PTO selector on 540 and moveing slowly in creeper gear?

My experience with snowblowers is all walk-behind, but with wet snow, you need to keep the snow flowing fast thru the chute, and too much snow input slows things down. If it cloggs, I either have to slow the input speed(slow down my travel speed) or take less than a full width pass to lower the snow intake and give the blower time to process the slush/slop.

Ron Ken here.The blower is a jinma that came with tractor.Pto is 2 speed-550 and 1000 rpm.I am running engine to slow I think but with pto at 1000 rpm setting and in creeper gear it seems to throw some snow without plugging up.It is now 11.36 PM here in Canada so I will try your suggestion tomorrow and get back to you.thank you,I know you help a lot of folks as i read all the postings.Ken.

Yes, that is kinda what I was guessing. How big is this snow blower? The PTO gearbox is geared to give it's rated output RPM(either 540 or 1000 RPM) with the engine at or near it's peak sustainable horsepower RPM(green area on tach). This is also the speed that the governor on the injector pump regulates/limits the engine RPM at when the throttle lever is pushed all the way forward. I think if you select 540 on the PTO lever, Let out the clutch slowly untill the PTO is fully engaged, then slowly advance the throttle till it is at full and leave it there, you will find it works much better. You will need to use the gear selection to determine the proper speed for the snow conditions, not the throttle as it needs to stay at full to maintain the proper PTO RPM. You need to be carefull with that 1000 PTO RPM selection as it might not be healthy to run an impliment much above it's 540 RPM design input. With 1000 selected on the PTO, the PTO output shaft will reach 540 RPM at around 1200 engine RPM.

I had this same question last year about my Yanmar 200BD and the Ber-Vac 64" blower I use with it. It seemed to work alot better with 1000rpm in the wet snow. The replies I got was that it would be fine to run it at 1000 rpm and that is what most do already. Atleast that is with the Yanmars, I'm not really familiar with the Jinmas.

Some implements are designed to run at between 750 and 1000 RPM. Although other minor variations are in use around the world, the standard shaft for 1000 RPM is a 1 and 3/8 inch - Twenty One spline.

The 540 RPM connection will use a 1 and 3/8 - six spline shaft. Since 1000 RPM produces only approximately 1/2 the torque of a 540, smaller HP tractors rely heavily on this slower speed for increased torque. All of our Jinma Farm Boss tractors come with the 540 - six spline shaft and almost every small PTO driven implement in your yard or on the market will fit. A word of caution - never attempt to run your 540 equipment at 1000 RPM.

blower is model PX 160 3 blade fan 60"augar .Run engine at 2300rpm pto at 540 rpm.Thanks for help guys.

Hi, I live in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada and I have the Jinma 284LE with the Jinma Snowblower. I use the 1000 speed on dry snow at 1800 RPM and I use my scraper when it is wet snow. I have done this for 2 years now and it works very well. I found that wet snow really just continues to clog and I spend more time cleaning than blowing! Good luck.

There's seldom enough snow in this part of Kentucky to justify investing in a snowblower. But I'm pretty sure I read that most of the tractor mounted models are geared to operate at 1000 PTO rpm. But as mentioned above, the PTO won't actually be turning at stated rpms 'til you've got the throttle set so the tach needle is on the green mark
