the front pto that drives the snow blower stops everytime I back up. is the a way to bypass that feature on a 425 lawn tractor

Does your keyswitch have an override position? I don't have a 425 but my lawn tractor has a switch position that keeps the PTO on when backing up

And Welcome to TBN

My keyswitch has 4 positions. Off-ON2-ON1-Start. After starting the key goes to ON1 automatically. In that position the PTO shuts off in reverse. If I put it in ON2 the PTO stays running in reverse. I only mow with mine and I want my mower running fwd and reverse.

Check pages 38-39 to operate PTO in reverse

I see that on the prints. do I have to follow that proceedure everytime I back up? or does that keep the snowblower engaged until I shut it off with the switch?

Again, I don't have a 425 so don't know if the PTO switch stays in that position once activated or if you have to lift it each time you reverse. I believe that since its a safety feature that once you go forward the switch goes back down. PITA but that's how Mfgs. build stuff. They incorporated the feature because someone probably ran over their kid with a mower deck running in reverse.
I really don't see a need for a snowblower attachment to run in reverse. A mower deck yes but blower no.

you are probably right. I am going to try it in the morning. My cub cadet has a position on the ignition switch that bypasses this safety. thanks again for the heads up.
