Good one, Rocksprings, this must mean you're loading your own shells now...with copper BB's:laughing:

I figure there is a good tail to go with the photo....something with enough excitement to rattle us all out of our TBN lethargy:thumbsup:

My dog alerted me to it during a chupacabra hunt.

I hate to be the one who has to inform you, but that's no copperhead; not even close. Your dead snake has no hourglass pattern. It just looks like a used-to-be healthy rat snake (chicken snake). You just took out a great mouser.:(:(:(

This is a copperhead:

Yup, was thinking the same thing. That thing was WAY too big for a copperhead. Head didn't look right either. I have several BIG black snakes on my property, I defend them. Haven't seen any other snakes in years.

My first thoughts were of a Timber Rattler. But you might be right after looking closer it might just be a chicken snake. A lot of mice will be happy

That's a nice stock!! Mine has them inside with a slide up cover. Who makes that?? I'm assuming it's not stock. My dad has one that is over thirty years old and I bought mine five years ago. Identical

My laptop screen isn't giving me a great image of the snake. I'd say either a Bullsnake or Watersnake. Either way, I think it was one of the good guys.

A neighbor of mine at my weekend place in the woods was all proud once showing me the "big bad snake" he had killed. I looked at it; it was a Kingsnake with the typical black with yellow spots. I told him he did more harm than good and explained that these guys eat the Timber Rattlers we have in the woods. He gave me a "yeah right" look. I just walked off.

That is a 410 H&R Three Inch Mag, Full Choke. The stock is synthetic something, like a hard plastic. Nice little weapon to have under the truck seat.
