You've picked a solid contender; the Deere X5xx machines are reliable little workhorses.

EDIT- i missed the post about you already buying machine…but since i already typed this…..

Buy a used airport snow machine. It will make your snow removal a 1 pass operation, and blow the snow over to your neighbor to worry about…… :ROFLMAO:

but seriously, i used to have an open station JD870 tractor, about 26HP AS I RECALL, and it would handle a 5 foot snowblower with ease. It was a 9 speed machine so sometimes finding the best blowing speed was a real issue, especially for wet Snow. It might have been able to handle a front plow, but never tried that. I also never tried a pallet fork with it, but if i had it would have probably been a bolt on set and not a separate unit as the tractor only had something like 1000# lifting capacity.

open station made me a walking snowman if i blew snow with any wind. Also sucked if i rushed out to remove snow when weather warmed up and it started to rain after dumping 6 inches of snow. If i would wait, it would be i possible to blow. So i would get drenched.

a small cabbed tractor probably wont have ac, at least that wasnt an option when i was looking. My current unit is 45 hp cabbed, heat and ac. Works great for me, but i use it for way, way more than just snow removal. Its a hard thing to spend alot of $$$$$ on a large tractor to just move snow.

alot of my neighbors that dont work their land at all, just graze a few goats or ?, end up with a truck mounted plow. But that only works if you have a good wide driveway where you can spread out the mounds of snow. Ive had to go help them move snow on real bad snow years.

It looks like I will be moving to a farm in December (fingers crossed). The drive to the house is about 500m(canuck measure) or 0.3 miles(freedom units). I want to get a small tractor that will be multipurpose, but #1 job would be to clear the drive in the winter.
What are some good ones to look at?
Cheers!
The larger the machine the more difficult it will be to maneuver around a yard. Also weight of machine could leave tracks and swinging the rear mower could hit stuff by accident.
