After the Tecumseh exploded http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/general-lawn-garden/382548-tecumseh-engine-question.html I began looking for another motor. I talked to my dad and he said he had a donor from a pressure washer.
It has a different si2zed shaft, which isn't that big of a problem as I can just buy a different pulley. But the shaft is only about 1-1/2" long. I need 2-1/2 to 3". Is there such a thing as an extension? I've been searching, but not able to find anything that looks like it will work.
Any ideas? :confused2:
Thanks,
Patrick

not sure how much room you have but a coupling and a short piece of matching shaft may work...check Surplus Center for shafts and couplings...
Good Luck...and BTW you should include a link to the other thread I have no idea what or where without digging...

I've seen this type of stuff at some of the mini-bike and go-kart sites, might puruse them.

I thought about that, not sure how it would work d/t side load from the belt, but this may be what I do.
Thanks.

I found "adaptors" on grainger for changing shaft sizes, and they would work, but pricey for me at ~$60. But may be the way I go.
I also thought about having a machine shop mill me a piece with a hole the same size as the bolt that fits the end of the engine shaft and just get a longer bolt the same size and add it to get the right length.

Thanks everyone.

I'd be worried how that extension going fasten to the shaft. Set screws will never do it or be safe. If you're going to put an extension the crank - Don't.

I'll have to get some pics tomorrow. I'm at work right now.
It's a vertical shaft and the pulley slips on the shaft and has a set screw.
