1 week ago today we got 24+ inches, and although I shovelled off
my house, I can't get on the barn. The snowpack has been slowly
creeping down, and I took these pics 3 days ago. the snow is
still hanging on, but even further now!

Pretty cool, nature, you could never engineer that.

I had that happen at my house too. I have metal gutters, but I'd bet your vinyl gutters are taking a beating from all that weight.

Ouch Sarg, that sucks.

lots of that happening around here, local farmer
lost 4 dairy cows last weekend when part of the barn
collapsed

I just drove back by my house again, still there.. and yea,
at least 1 section of that gutter will be toast, along with
the bracket... and i just fixed it this past fall...........

My porch has a metal roof, 12" overhang, and about a 4/12 pitch. Twice in 12 years the snow has curled under like that enough to put icicles thru a window. Interesting phenomenon! MikeD74T

Good Evenin Dutch,
That is really unique, as JB stated, you could never engineer that over again ! ;):)

It all came down Sunday, we weren't home. Now I can at least
park my new (to me) Tundra back in my parking spot!

the backside snow on the barn came down and took out an old 2 man
kayak that was back there, and my roof rake became a twisted
pole.

still lots of snow on the camper though, started pulling that
off last nite. It's located in the most protected area of my property, near the east end of the house, which probably didn't help it with snow blowing off the roof.

it'll soon be gone though.

We have gutter guards on our metal roof to avoid the curling, dumping, and high speed gutter removal. My almost finished tractor garage doesn't have them, and it dumped it snow in one big messy instant this winter. The roof is a 20 degree angle.

It could get interesting if one is standing under the roof edge when the snow releases.:D

Most houses and buildings around here forego gutters, they just get beat up so badly so often.

Sarg - Sorry to see your roof gave in. Been some crazy heavy snow around this winter.
Dave.
