Your going to have a cold seat. Looks like someone left the out house door open in your uphill picture. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That's my red headed step child 4 wheeler. I haven't been using it much lately. The tractor has been getting the most usage lately. I'm surprise how it goes thru 2 ft of snow. I know I should have got 4wd but 2wd seems to work good enough for now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've plowed snow three times this season here in western MD. This last snow we got about 4-5". I was out there at 7:30 am plowing the drive with my YM1301D and a 42" front blade. I still have the rice tires on and have absolutely no problems in the snow. And you are right - this was a wet snow.

For those that will be doing any snow removal with their tractors, I would highly recommend keeping the rice tires for winter, and using the turf/diamond/truck treads for lawn service only. I plan to have 265-75/16 tires mounted on my existing rims, and getting another set of wheels for the rice tires.

I second Greg's comments re: the rice tires. In Jan. 2000 we had a 17" snow down here & tractor acted completely differently with the rice tires and Ags on the front. Course the tractor's been changed dramatically with the FEL, FEL mount (lowers ground clearance) and FEL changes weight distribution as well as theless aggressive tires since 1/2000.

There is definate drive shaft wind up when I go on concrete. It seems much more severe than when I first mounted tires. Sitting here reading what I just wrote the culprit is probably the increased weight on the front tires with the FEL. I think there is less front tire slippage because of FEL weight

That is part of it, but I would say that a great deal of the noticeable wind up is due to the turf tires on front instead of the ag tires. Those turfs put more rubber to the road than the ag tires.

Don, have you tried using maximum air pressure in the front tires? I suspect since you mounted the loader, your front tires are sitting flatter on the ground, thereby reducing your rolling circumference. Remember pi(d), or in this case pi(3.14) x (radiusx2), with diameter being twice the distance from hub center to ground, which can vary greatly with tire pressure.

Don,
I also have a quick attach loader for my YM1301D which leaves a significant loader frame and hydraulic valves on the tractor. I used the loader once to clear the driveway, and didn't like it. I have it off right now, and have the blade on the front. I only wish the blade was wider - 42" is just barely wide enough to clear the width of the tractor when I angle it. I attached a photo of the tractor in which you can see the frame. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo with the blade on.

Mark, does your setup do a decent job of moving the snow around? I have a Yanmar 140D w/turf tires and was thinking about getting a King Kutter rear mount blade to clear my gravel driveway. Is not having any down force on the TPH an issue? Thanks, Jim
