Hi all,

Has anyone converted their skid steer attachment to work off the hydraulics. Mine is the standard handle setup that pushes down the pins. I am just wondering how difficult it would be to tap into the machines hydraulic system. It is a komatsu sk-714 2004.

I have seen commercially available systems that do this, but it seems a total waste to me unless you are disabled or change implements 10+ times per day. The system either takes a dedicated hydraulic remote with control valve or a diverter valve with an existing remote. A much better solution than hydraulics would be electro-mechanical in my opinion, but even that seems unnecessary when it is so easy to get off the tractor and work the levers. I'm 62 years old and 60% disabled. Even so, I find my FEL quick-attach a joy to use with those mechanical levers. My productivity soared when I put that system on my tractor. I can't imagine that a hydraulically powered system would give me enough productivity increase to make it feasible. Others certainly might disagree for their own very good reasons.

I agree that they are a bit overkill but my ones are pretty badly worn and loose. I am going to have to do some work to fix them up and just thought it would be pretty neat to have that functionality. Be a good way of learning how to tap into the system. During the winter I change from the bucket to the yard scraper to forks to silage pusher back to bucket etc...I also be cleaning out pretty dirty sheds and the handles can be covered in all types of manure...

I thought I had seen where someone converted them to electic. They just used a linear actuactor.

John Deere SSL's use linear actuators for their remote SSQA setup...I guess it's cheaper than doing it with hydraulics.

Here is an example .

Down the road when I run out of other projects:) I've been thinking about using an electric linear actuator to run my QD's. Seems a lot simplier than trying to do the hydraulic thing. Bobcat has a kit to convert the manual to hydraulic but like someone already has said unless your changing implements on a frequent basis within a job I don't see the point.

One point that I had not thought about is if your in nasty muck or a harsh enviroment the eletric or hudrualic would be nice to have.

My buddy has the hydraulic attachment system on his Bobcat S250. I'd guess it was an option he included when purchasing the machine.

He's a doctor and they go for that kind of stuff (lot's of stuff)...
(He readily admits it!!)

All the time it saves him will likely extend his life an additional 30 minutes!

J_J,

This seems to be the post with the photos you attached. I think that it is the best way to go. The real reason is that the handles do get covered in runny manure and its not feasable to be running to wash the SS every time it gets dirty. this seems like a good cheap solution and I should be able to incorporate it into the panel and make it look neat.
