skid steer hookup .. plates go opposite ways ?

so I have a JD skid steer style hookup on my loader. when i take something off to put another attachment on.. if i move the joystick any.. the one plate will go one way and the other the opposite.

at the JD dealer the guy told me that the bar underneath control that and it must of sheared a pin. well i took that bar out and its 100% fine and the pins are fine.

any ideas?

The only way they can move independently of each other is that the bar connecting the two side plates isn't attached on one end for some reason. Have a better look at that. For them to move independently it would have to twist that bar

And if there is no attachment between the two sides they should never move opposite directions. One might move faster than the other or one might stay stationary while the other moves but not one in and one out at the same time

Others have had the timing bar break inside the side plates which made it impossible to see until the bar was removed.
I found that there's a fair amount of slop in the pins, bar and end plates which allows this to happen. I also talked to my dealer and received the same info as you.

thanks guys .. i'll take the bar completely out and check it out really good.

they do move opposite ways from each other.. if i have nothing attached.. i can move the joystick and they'll go back and forth opposite directions each way. works fine once something is attached to it though. pretty weird.
