Nut threads were totally stripped out.

I am wondering if a certain grade is to be used so that the nut 'fails' and not the threads on the cylinder rod end.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm. No answers eh.

Well, I can certainly find the size out. My real questions is what grade to get, 3 - 5 - 8?

Wish I could help but I have no idea. I'd call a hydraulic shop to see what they say.

Thanks. Good idea.

Why is it that sometimes the obvious is the last to come to one's brain?

That nut was likely not tightened correctly - VERY important on loader curl. ... Neither should fail. Strength for strength it will always be the bolt/rod that fails since there is greater thread root area to share load in the nut. I would go one strength number down for the nut. So if the rod is Gr8 yould use a Gr5 nut.
