Planters Size of JD 71 2-row planters?

Hello all, new member, first-time posting! (Thanks Doc for helping me get registered!)

I'm thinking about getting a JD 71 2-row planter, and I'm wondering what the deminsions and weight are for transportation purposes... (I have a 5x8 heavy-duty trailer. Will one fit in that?)

Yes. It will easily fit in the back of a pick up truck. I did it.

Do you have a rough idea how much they weigh?

Two people can move it around pretty easy. If you are using a trailer you can just pick up the front and wheel it up the ramps. Three to get it in a truck because of the height. You will want to set the front discs on a piece of wood rather than metal.

My trailer has a Tilt Bed... Plus, there's an old boat winch welded on the front that I can use also... I was mainly concerned if it would Fit in the trailer, but was curious about the weight, too - hard to tell how heavy they are from a picture....

Each planter unit weighs 80lbs without hopper and front packer wheel (if included). Your 2-row 71 is most likely under 250lbs. Bring along a ratchet set and if needed you will be able to remove the units from the toolbar in a few minutes.

Would you have any use for some feathers from a Barred Plymoth Rock Rooster? (I have one who is close to meeting his demise...) I know some guys use the feathers to make flys...

I just had one delivered 2 weeks ago. Bill of lading said 385 lb. It's about 3.5 feet wide and 3 ft tall and about 4 feet front to back. It should fit on your trailer no problem.
