Have Kubota m5040 and will need to mow approx. 24 acres.
Opinions on size mower, single or batwing type for this size tractor

I guess it comes down to what you're cutting, frequency and how much time and money you want to spend. For that tractor and acreage, I would probably go with an 8' twin spindle.

With the 5040 I had,I usually pulled a 8ft but also have used a 15ft batwing with it. We talking just grass cutting or what?

I pull a 12ft bat-wing with our M5040.

I'd feel better pulling a 12' batwing with that tractor than a 15' batwing unless it's never going to get into tall thick stuff. Or an 8' twin spindle as suggested above.

If the twin spindle 8' is a rigid deck, the flex wing 12ft will follow the ground better leaving less high spots.

Agree with others. 8' twin for a rotary cutter. If kept more like a lawn and done every few weeks, 12' batwing.

One thing to consider is if trailering or transporting is ever gonna be done. It's alot easier to trailer a 8'/3ph cutter than an big batwing
