Siromer 304 / Jinma 254 Creeper Gear

Hi,

Over on the snow forum someone has pointed out that the creeper gears may be intended for planting or other light duty operations, and would be knackered if used for snowblowing. Is this likely to be the case with Jinma 254 transmission?

I am the one to give you the creeper gear caution.

Here is the same caution from a much bigger Kubota.

Ignore it and expect serious broken parts.

I’ve had my 254 for 13 years and twice a year i till my garden using the creeper gear, never had any problems. I wouldn’t hesitate using it if I had a snow blower. I’ve also used it to pull logs out of the woods.

If you read my above post, roto tilling is one of the few purposes a creeper gear I designed for.

My FT254 don't have the creeper gear and I do miss it a lot.
In low 1st it is always too fast and doozing the snow or loging the engine.
All the warning are all related to drive train possible damage, but on snow it is more slippery than on compacted dirt or pavement.
Snowblowing require more engine RPM and power than moving speed.
So I put my PTO in the HI range at a lower engine RPM and I know doing this the engine can't give it's full HP output.

The caution you refer to is if the tractor is in motion do not shift, I’d imagine someone tried doing it and destroyed the gears. I took the creeper shift cover off when I changed the transmission oil, it made it easier to fill but the gears are made heavy and looks like they would stand up to some serious torque.

That is not what the Chinese translations says.

If you don't want my caution as a mechanical engineer, just go for it. Nothing like a good look to assess a component's structural capability.
After all that is how our airplanes are designed is it not?

Haven’t needed your caution for 13 years that I’ve owned my tractor, don’t need it now.

Been using creeper gear for all kinds of things for 13 years also(05 jinma 254) pulling stumps, dragging trees and moving obnoxiously heavy loads very slowly and carefully. works great, and i agree with the previous asses,ent, the creeper gearbox on mine looks to be as stout as any other part of the transmission... The weakest link on the 254 drivetrain is the front spindles and driveshaft couplings... have not heard of anyone having issues with the jinma 254 creeper gearbox... other than not having one due to having shuttle shift instead

Thanks for all the comments, cautions included. Information on my exact tractor is skimpy, the only advice they give is that "ditching" is a suggested application where creeper would be appropriate. The Siromer/Jinma box may not be the same as the TY304, as it doesn't have a neutral position.
