John Deere 3320
Can anybody out there point me to where I can purchase a single row planter for my 3320. I would like a JD product but I don't think Deere offers one any longer unless I'm missing it. All I can locate are used JD71s on ebay. I have a call into my dealer but in the meantime any help would be appreciated. Suggestions on a another manufacture also welcomed. Thank you. MJF

I'm not sure if Pequa still makes planter. They used to use deere parts to build them. I'm not sure I spelled there name right either. Do a google search you'll find something.

There are usually several for sale on e-bay, check under 'john deere farm implements'.

What are you looking to plant? If you don't require great precision a Cole MX will do an adequate job with the proper plates. Look for a used one, they are sturdy and simple.

Take a look at this website for new Cole and more exotic planters/seeders. Market Farm

I have seen a few one row JD setups like the Pequa at auctions, although they only show 2-row on the website currently.

I have a covington myself and it fertilizes as it plants the seed. I also have the cultivator and side dresser system to plow and put out nitrogen after the corn is up 18" or so. Check into them, they are built here in Alabama so I don't know if they have dealers in your area but I would think you could find a good used one and maybe get several plates with it when you buy it. The ones I have belonged to my gran-dad and they are probably at least 50 years old. I just got finished redoing both of them this year and planted a 5 acre garden with them. Dang good planters for sure, try and find one on the old frame that has the adjustable plows and plow points and not the new ones with the spring cultivator.

deerchop, does covington have a website? I would like to plant food plots, etc. with minimum effort (of course) but the Frontier foodplot planters I priced were $4500 or so

Covington/Cole website

Covington is also merged with Cole that I mentioned above. Either one will do the job for large seeds, and the Covington has an attachemnt for drilling smaller seeds. If you have time try to find a used unit, new are getting expensive. On the used be sure it hasn't been damaged by fertilizer.

The site listed above is correct, look around in some local traders and you should be able to find one. I see them listed almost every week and you should be able to get a good used one for around 4-600 for a single row. Lot's of times the hoppers rusted but they can be replaced.
